ILLUSTRATED ANATOMY AND MECHANICS OF THE SPINE AND TRUNK
This three-hour workshop explores the trunk from both structural and functional perspectives. Working our way from deep to superficial, we will survey the skeletal structures of the trunk, explore trunk movement, and discuss posture and alignment.  Then we will investigate the layering of the muscles of the trunk, their movements, and their basic functions during various Pilates mat exercises. Using handouts, Powerpoint, and live models, facilitates the transmission of abstract anatomic and kinesiologic information into practical knowledge for workshop participants. This class is a useful but challenging immersion for first time anatomy students. Those with previous experience will gain deeper understanding of structural and functional relationships of the trunk.
Real Pilates 177 Duane Street, New York, NY. 212.625.0777
